The 2nd Annual Saddle Brook Police Department Dodgeball Tournament for Special Olympics NJ was held on Saturday, April 26th at Saddle Brook High School. The event started with 10 teams vying for the 6'5" Champions Trophy. When it was all said and done, the team form On the Spot Home Improvement took the championship, Maj's Hobby Shop finished 2nd and the SBPD Average 5-0's took the 3rd place trophy. The real winners in this event were the special needs athletes of New Jersey. This tournament along with donations from the general public has raised over $17,000 (as of 04/26/2008).
The idea of the dodgeball tournament was that of PO. Michael Juliano after playing it on a cruise. What started as an idea has turned into an event that is being looked at for possible expansion on a State level. Without his hard work and dedication along with that of his wife, this event would not take place. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for all they have done for the special needs athletes of NJ.
