11/12/2007 SBPD Receives New Bullet Resistant Vests - the department took delivery of 32 brand new bullet resistant vests for officer within the department. The vests were purchased with over $30,000 in Federal and State grant money. No local money was used to replace the vests worn by most of the department. BP vests are normally guaranteed for a period of 5 years.
10/25/2007 North Jersey AAA Honors SBPD - at a luncheon sponsored by AAA of North Jersey, the Saddle Brook Police Department was given the AAA North Jersey Community Traffic Safety Program Award of Excellence. The award was based upon motor vehicle crash statistics and programmatic initiatives run by the department in 2006 to promote pedestrian, bicycle and motor vehicle safety.
09/28/2007 Passing of Special Police Officer Harry Brey:
The Saddle Brook Police Department regretfully announces the passing of Harry E.
Brey., age 87. Harry ,was a Special Police Officer (Class 1) with the
department for over 55 years. In addition he was the Saddle Brook
Municipal Court Bailiff for over 25 years. He was also a WW II Army
Sergeant with 101st Airborne Div., a member of VFW Post 3484 Saddle Brook. Harry
was Past Commander of the Drill Team for three years, a founding Charter member
of Saddle Brook's Vol. Ambulance Corps., and Cub Scout Leader Troop #222.
09/25/2007 - Officer to Attend FBI National Academy.
Det/Captain Vincent Laurentino will be attending the FBI National Training
Academy in Quantico, Virginia starting on September 31st. This high level
training is available to only a small percentage of police officers
nationwide. The intensive 10 week program will culminate in early
December. Capt Laurentino is only the 3rd officer in departmental history
to attend this prestigious course of training.
09/25/2007 - Department Deploys New Patrol Cars - The department recently deployed three Dodge Charger patrol cars. These vehicles replaced three aging patrol cars. The Dodge Charger was selected over other manufacturers due to its overwhelming success on tests by major police departments across the country. The Michigan State Police ranked it as the best police patrol car they ever tested across the board.

07/15/2007 - Torch Run for Special Olympics - Saddle Brook Police Department's participation in the 24th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics was a featured story on Cablevision's Neighborhood Journal program. The program aired during July and August on Cablevision Channel 78 throughout their viewing area. The response was tremendous and based upon it the station covered the annual National Night Out Against Public Safety Fair. This segment will be aired on their show in September.
06/01/2007 - Kugler installed as President - Saddle Brook Chief of Police Robert J. Kugler has been installed as the President of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police. The ceremony was held at the Association's Annual Conference in Atlantic City.
