Combat Auto Theft
C.A.T.

The Combat Auto Theft or C.A.T. program is a statewide effort to deter auto theft, and increase recoveries of those vehicle that are stolen. New Jersey law requires police certain law enforcement agencies to participate in the program.

It is very simple.... Any vehicle owner may register his/her vehicle with the local police department (proof of ownership and identification are required). Once the vehicle is registered, a special C.A.T. window decal is given to the vehicle owner. The decal is placed in the rear window on the driver's side. If a law enforcement officer sees this vehicle being operated between the hours of 1:00am and 5:00am, the owner has given the police, consent to stop the vehicle to ensure that an authorized party is operating it.

Applications for the Combat Auto Theft program are available through the Saddle Brook Police Department's Records Bureau during their normal business hours.
