The Essex Street Bridge crossing Route 17 on the Lodi / Maywood border is CLOSED for construction until at least August 2008 and possibly longer depending upon certain variables such as weather. Essex Street will be closed from Maywood Avenue to a point just West of the bridge. In addition, Route 17 itself is shifted to two lane temporary roadways to allow for construction of the new bridge. While not in Saddle Brook, this project will cause traffic backups and changing traffic patterns that will impact our residents and businesses. Please make alternate plans for travel to Maywood and points east. Garibaldi Avenue and Route 46 in Lodi, Central Avenue and Passaic Streets in Rochelle Park as well as Route 80 East will bring you around the construction area.
